The Anthem is a Gift

from Ghosts of Christmas Past by The Winter Sounds

/

lyrics

When the first snow falls on Carolina, I'll be singing carols across the sea.
I'll miss the long roads, swollen acres, the pregnant fields of evergreen.
The lights are low when the fire's out. Oh could I do more? I hear a church bell ringing in the darkness. Hiding from a flood of lonely years.
What can I do now? I'm no holy roller.
We're both gonna settle down in a mountain town for 24 or more odd years or so until we let go.
Like gently fallen snow, when the morning comes, I hope ... I hope you're still here.
When the first snow falls on Carolina, I'll be singing carols across the sea.
I'll miss the long roads, swollen acres, the pregnant fields of evergreen.

Nothing but love on Christmas Eve. in the cold of the night, we bundled up tight by starlight.
We're both gonna settle down in a mountain town for 24 or more odd years or so until we let go. Like gently fallen snow, when the morning comes, I hope ... I hope you're still here.

And I'm not quite sure what this year will bring.
Will we lay down our heads or get up and sing?
And I'm not quite sure where we're coming from. You said the anthem is a gift I'm letting go.
